Basically, I offer 5 different types of camps. Were you to use one of the following terms at All West Lacrosse Camps, I would tell you about yourself in this way:
"Day Camper": You would be a boy or girl having just completed 5th through 12th grade who was determined to work hard on your lacrosse game for 4 days. Camp would begin for you at 9:00am and end at 3:00pm (in most cases). You would bring your own lacrosse equipment to camp, your own lunch, and plenty of your favorite liquid. (We will provide water and will have a trainer present at all camps.) You would experience an instructional program consisting of three intense sessions each day. SESSION I focuses on building stick skills and teaching individual techniques. SESSION II covers team play including full field transition and settled and unsettled situations. SESSION III (the last 11/2 hours) is dedicated to team practices and games where you will have the opportunity to use what you have learned throughout the day and apply it to game situations. Hopefully, you'll be able to talk your parents into coming to see you play at one of these sessions. Our program integrates offense, defense, and goalie play through intense drilling and coaching. You will be grouped according to age and ability in order to create the ideal learning environment.
"Pee Wee Camper": You would be a boy or girl having just completed kindergarten through 4th grade. You would be just starting in this fun game and most likely be a pest about it in some way to an older brother, sister, or parent. You would be thrilled about the chance to receive proper instruction on lacrosse basics (e.g., catching, throwing, picking up ground balls, running with the ball, shooting basics) at such an early age and to be able to play for 4 days along side the big boys. Although you know your mom will miss you, you know it will be good for her, too. Camp would begin for you at 9:00am and end at 12:00 noon. You would only have to bring plenty of your favorite liquid and a stick (and, if you really want, whatever equipment you can scrounge from home). Sneakers are you best footwear
."Goalie / Shooting / Face-off Camper": You are a boy who is a dedicated lacrosse specialist. You've just completed 5th through 12th grade and are ready to work intensely on your specialty for 1 to 1 1/2 days. If associated with a Day Camp, your day would begin at 9:00am and end at 3:00pm. You would bring your own lacrosse equipment to camp and your own lunch and plenty of your favorite liquid. If associated with a Resident Camp, your first day would begin at 12:00pm and end at 12:00 noon the next day. You, too, would bring your own equipment. The higher instructor to camper ratio allows you to work closely with experts in goaltending, shooting, and facing-off. Each specialty will be broken down for you to basic elements. For example, in shooting, you'll learn the key points to shooting the three basic types of shots in lacrosse. And, you'll get a chance to practice what you learn against some of the best goalies in the area who have come to accept your challenges. You'll come away from this intense day fundamentally better at these all important lacrosse specialties
."Resident Camper": You would be a boy or girl having just completed 5th through 12th grade who was determined to work hard on your lacrosse game for 4 days at an overnight camp. Camp would begin for you at 12:00 noon on day #1 and end at 12:00 noon on day #4 day following the championship game! You would bring your own lacrosse equipment to camp. Your lunch, dinner, and plenty of liquids will be provided by your host. You would experience an instructional program consisting of three intense sessions each day. SESSION I focuses on building stick skills and teaching individual techniques. SESSION II covers team play including full field transition and settled and unsettled situations. SESSION III is dedicated to team practices and games where you will have the opportunity to use what you have learned throughout the day and apply it to game situations. Our program integrates offense, defense, and goalie play through intense drilling and coaching. You will be grouped according to age and ability in order to create the ideal learning environment. You will view college and professional game tapes and get important advice on the college recruiting process. If you have any energy left at the end of your day, movies and entertainment will be provided to you.
"Extended Day Camper": You are just like the Resident Camper described above, EXCEPT, you live close to where the camp is being held and you decide to spend the night there in your own bed instead of in the dorm with the Resident Campers. Camp would begin for you on day #1 at 12:00 noon and at 8:30am every day thereafter. Your day would end at 9:00pm on all days but day #4, which would end at 12:00noon following the championship game!
